Gamechanger

It’s a word that every entrepreneur knows all too well. The gamechanger is a big event, opportunity or innovation that can radically transform a business. If you are trying to grow a business, a gamechanger can be illusive. Difficult to achieve and find, it’s not always apparent what or who is the big “ah-ha” that you really need.

As a small business owner, so much of my life is intertwined—there is no clear delineation between work and family—and of late, I have come to realize that I need a gamechanger in a big way. Recently, we’ve had a few family illnesses that have had Scott and me on the road. Many of my days consisted of heading to work before dawn, getting in the car to be gone all day and then returning home at night to play catch up.

Living the Beast

I can clearly recall my first roller coaster ride as a kid… the “Beast” at Kings Island in Cincinnati. One of the oldest and largest wooden coasters in the country, you can feel every twist, turn and dive on the Beast. As the oldest in my family, my mom loaded me into a car with a stranger and she hopped into the seat behind us with my younger sister. It didn’t take long for me to lock a death grip onto my unsuspecting co-passenger and by the end of the ride, I could see my fingernails etched in his forearm. Despite my outward terror, I loved the rush, the adrenalin, the extreme feeling of the unknown. It went without saying that after I finished that first ride, I grabbed my sister and mom and we headed straight back into the three-hour line to do it all over again.

NEW ALBANY, OHIO – PRISM Marketing Communications welcomes its newest team member, Jordan Roberts, to its New Albany office. Roberts joins PRISM as copyeditor. Her exceptional writing, editing and public relations experience will allow the agency to expand its strong base of communications talent and better meet the needs of the marketplace.

Roberts is a graduate of Otterbein University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Communications. At Otterbein, she was Agency Director for the university’s chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA). She represented Otterbein at the 2010 National PRSSA Convention in Washington, D.C., where her “Random Acts of Kindness” campaign was recognized for excellence.

Roberts further developed her writing and public speaking skills during internships at both the Opera Company of Philadelphia and the Ohio College Access Network.
